Privacy Policy
Your Privacy is Our Priority
FreeWordEditor.com is committed to protecting your privacy while providing a powerful editing experience.
Important: All document processing happens entirely in your browser. When you upload a .docx file, it is opened and edited locally on your device — it is never uploaded to our servers or any third-party service.
Data We Don't Collect
- We don't store your documents on our servers
- We don't track your editing activity
- We don't require user accounts or personal information
- We don't use our own analytics or tracking cookies (see Advertising below for ad-related cookies)
Local Storage
FreeWordEditor.com uses IndexedDB in your browser to keep your current document and periodically save edits while the editor is open. Wait for “Saved on this device” before closing the tab. If a save fails, the editor will warn you to download a copy. The latest saved version can be reopened on this device; changes made after the last save may not be recoverable. Browser data can be cleared by your browser or device settings.
Your locally saved document remains in this browser until you replace it with another document, use New in the editor, clear your browser storage, or remove it below. This matters on shared devices. None of these actions deletes a downloaded copy.
To remove the saved document using the button on this page, enable JavaScript.
Document Processing
Uploaded Documents: When you upload a .docx file, it is stored in your browser's IndexedDB until you replace or remove it. The editor processes its contents on your device without sending the file to our servers.
Blank Documents and Templates: Editing and DOCX/PDF exports happen in your browser. The page may still request website assets such as fonts and, with consent where configured, advertising resources from third parties; document contents are not sent with those requests.
Advertising
We display advertisements to keep this service free. Ads are provided by Google AdSense. If you accept cookies in our cookie banner, Google may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads; this can include personalized advertising based on your Google ad settings. If you reject cookies, no advertising cookies are loaded by us.
Your documents are never shared with advertisers — ad systems have no access to the content you edit, which stays on your device. You can learn how Google uses data from ad partners at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
